Playground Sessions

Playground Study Sessions are an additional way to involve parents and teachers in supporting students during the summer.

A Playground Study Session is a one hour, regular block of time each week when parents and volunteer teachers are available at the school to answer questions, review work and offer a quiet place to complete weekly lessons.

These sessions are an opportunity for each school to personalize the Summer Learning Program to their students’ needs. For example, one elementary school hosted the sessions Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings.  Another elementary school hosted their study sessions on the playground of the local apartment complex where the majority of their under-resourced children lived.

ThinkStretch provides the volunteer guides, orientation meeting plan and additional playground bonus activities to host successful Playground Sessions in every Program Coordinator package.
